Campus Recruitment Drive - COEP - VMWare

Last week we had a campus recruitment drive at the College Of Engineering, Pune(COEP). One of the reputed engineering colleges here in Maharashtra. On a casual note, one of the candidate informed me that Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya(Engineer's Day celebrated in his memory) graduated from this institution.

We have selected 4 out of 75 who appeared for this recruitment drive. Disqualifying candidates in earlier rounds are as easy as it is in Final rounds. None of us can say those who disqualified in the final rounds are not fit, but they are suppose to lose in the competition as the best only gets picked.

During our interaction we get to know most of them who got selected for final round also had offers with other companies as well. But they appeared for this as VMWare is the Dream Company for them. Yes, VMWare is categorized as Dream Company in their institution(also heard one cannot appear for other campus interview if got hired for Dream Company). The reasons they list down, the brand awareness and their knowledge about the current market trend is surprising, which paves them way to pick whom-to-work-for in this internet era.

This is my first ever visit to campus recruitment. It was nice to be among and interacting with those energetic and enthusiastic next generation engineers. Engineers are supposed to redefine the world, this visit just reaffirms me that our younger generation are bang on target. The range of projects they worked on and the experiments they attempted during their course are nothing less than the likes of Mark Zuckerberg et al.
