Most of the loud speakers are switched off. Cursing, scolding & blaming on the stage are all hopefully reduced. Political break will come to an end in all the commercial channels. By this time, most of the voters of the star constituency may received the price for the about to be done "sin". No wonder in listening at this political scenario, as these are the obvious culture of the indian civic while taking up the election.
Since then the last elections, there is a blooming emergence of television channels in the state(nearly doubled, conflict between political siblings being one of the cause), which adds excitement to the electoral drama. For the last few weeks, nothing can be more entertaining than viewing the news channels. And if you are a firm believer, that you can become up-to-date with the current affairs by watching these tamil news channels, then, you will be one of the pitiful person in the world. Though there are a bunch of news channels in tamil, but the news they broadcast are mostly biased & shameless self-portrayal.
In the previous held elections, the competition is mostly between Sun & Jaya in promoting their parties. But this time, the scope of the game has been expanded with the emergence of Kalaignar Network & few other channels. Now its between, Kalaignar N/w+Sun N/w VS Rest-of-the-tamil channels. But as per the TRP rating, the former wins by a wide margin in reaching the audience
Lets discuss a little about the parties and scope.
Vijayakanth is taking up his first ever parliament elections. Unlike assembly elections, this time media totally ignores projecting him as they are fondly covering the top 2 alliances. Found few ads portraying him on Sun Network which probably to split the anti-ruling party votes.
Tamizh Ealam has been the hottest debate among the leading parties. AIADMK using this issue in favour of them followed by DMK alliance using the same to blame. Vaiko, the agressive speaker is one of the added strength for AIADMK Campaign, hope JJ seems to have good terms with him in some common aspects like "Family Politics & Tamil Ealam".
This time DMK taking up the poll with little pride in projecting their execution on few of its pre-poll promises during the assembly election. And this seems very very crucial election for DMK to stay in power in the state as they are a minority government depending heavily on Congress. If they get anything less than 20 seats, then surely there will be coalition governement in the state. If AIADMK sweeps and situation makes them to support congress to power then i'm not surprised of a immediate assembly election in the state.
But the current scenario is mostly against the ruling party hence i dont think they will grab anything more than 5-10 seats. Also the "family politics" & power sharing conflict among their siblings portrays the party very much as dynasty based rather democratic. I hope its time for them to resolve this image for the future of the party and to cultivate some spirit among the party workers. And JJ is using the same to attract more youth to the party.
One convincing thing in this election is that an IIM-A graduate, E.SarathBabu, contesting from South-Chennai constituency. His symbol is "Slate"(long time since i have found a symbol which reflects the party ideologies). He is a successful Entrepreneur. But in my opinion, he is not at all in scope to win this election, will be surprised if he wont lose deposit. The only benefit he can get out of this election is the publicity in portraying him as a good human being and the gaining familiarity about his organization(Food King).
Overall, there is something lacking as a democratic nation, and it is the lack of self-less or role-model leaders(whether he can able to survive if exist???). And we are left with an option to pick the best among the worst. Lets do this at least to our very best.
Happy voting!!!
