Beggars: Turned out to be trendy

Innovation is the need-of-the-hour everywhere and begging isn't spared alone.

In India one thing any foreigners hate will be the bugging beggars. Sometimes you feel pity for them being disabled or so aged so as not to pursue any job for their living. But most of the times you feel irritated finding these beggars pursuing it alike a business.

I was irritated by two such incidents where i find the beggars begging in an unusual manner.

The first incident happened at polistall. Once i finished my breakfast i just started my bike to the office, one person suddenly appeared in front of me. He is healthy and young, also holds a shoe-polish-brush and a bag. Then he asks to let him polish my shoe, his approach was a surprise because i'm wearing a white canvas shoe and he holds a old brush(looks very much used for black polish) with worned out bristles. Obviously i said no, nobody wants to polish a white canvas with a black one for the sake of helping an young entrepreneur. Then he made an usual approach by saying that he didn't take his breakfast yet. His approach isn't pitiful since it is just 8:15AM in the morning, but i still convinced that real hunger doesn't minds schedule.

Though i wont encourage beggars but his attempt for food was supposed to be close to my heart. But the next demand he made really let me irritated. He demanded for 2 Idlis and a Pongal, believe he made this specific demand(Its irritating because i take only 2 idlis with a ocassional vada for breakfast and his demand seems to be very much heavy to me). And he does keeps on repeating it with increasing tone. I really felt this as very much strange approach and turn around to see whether anyone is making some "Just For Fun" kind of thing. And no one is around there except me and found myself caught alone. He doesn't shown any symptoms of leaving me without reaching his goal. His demand & tone really makes me to change my mind to offer him a breakfast and moved away from the place thinking of his conversion ratio with this approach.

The Next incident happened inside our office premises. One guy approached me in the parking zone in front of our office when i returned back from the gym. He introduces himself as a 11th standard student. And he asked me to let him clean my bike for the cost of a study-guide which he needs for the nearing mid term test. I told him its not necessary to clean my bike and asked for the guide he needed so that i can help him buying it. Then he just wrote something in a small piece of paper. I thought it was the guide name but that seems to be his school address which is somewhere far by 15km from my area. And he added that the guide will be available only in his school which costs around Rs.75. He also indicates that midterm exams are going on in the school and hence they will allow the outsiders only during 12:30-1 pm. Once narating all these difficulties he then wants my assurance for whether i can make it during that time. And i replied that i cant give any assurance but i try to be and also asked him to try with others too. At once he just laments and goes away to try on someone else. Hopefully he expects the money from me.

It just lets me to think the varying degree of strange approaches in begging. Now a days people are very much greed to earn as much by blending with some innovative ideas in begging.

Atleast it is nice to know people have started thinking of new ways in improving their profession. If it is supposed to be added with some Courage and Self-Esteem, i hope they will be reaching out to greater heights without begging.

  1. On beggars ha ha ha :)

India never got swaraj from this :(

Never will until all those racketeers get extinct and when there are beggars who "demand" more than just "beg"!
