House Rent - My Experience

Recently i'm in surge of searching a house for rent, since my house owner thought of selling the one i'm staying at. Atlast i'm introduced to the market which keeps raising on a daily basis.

Two years before i thought of buying a home and when all set for registration, we have dropped the deal in terms of conflict with the builder. Though I have rarely worried for the missed oppurtunities, but it becomes frequent during the search for a good house to rent.

Being a bachelor and Non-vegetarian, i am well qualified to miss a lot of good houses around the town. So i approached a housing broker(rent,buy & sell) who indeed well known to me. He runs a deparmental store for long years and i'm one of his regular customer. Though he is dedicated and hardworking, he cant change his poor life style these many years. But the boom let him to change his profession as well as attitude by a mile. And nothing can be an instantaneous profession than to begin with house broking where in you can make money just by roaming around(To say simple, Data is wealth in this profession). Of course its easy to comment by overlooking at other professions rather the one we do. As far as my observation, in this profession everybody treats cheating like a spiritual means to get the maximum commission. There is no proper way of income flow in this medium, and their income proportionately depends on the customers resistance to get cheated.

Being well known to him, i just started with a friendly note about our house owner's decision and my search for a new house to rent. At once i told him, he asked me for my budget and expectations. Since he asked, i just listed the array of my expectations as 1. flat, 2. double bedroom, etc., He just said OK(but it doesn't seems like he heard all of them) politely and asked for my budget. My current rent is Rs.2650/-, hence in comparison to that, I just told him my budget range as 6-7k. Once i told he just cant stop laughing by looking at my stupidity towards the market. To keep the humiliation off, i just convince myself to sum up 1000 more to the quoted numbers.

But still, he treated me like a fellow-with-the-worst-of-greediness by saying that my house owner is good enough to keep me thinking this way. Also, he added that to reach my expectation, i should go with atleast 14-15k. i have no words to respond him, but felt like somebody is requesting me to loot my pocket with consent.

Knowing i'm surprised he continued that people are ready to pay even more than that, especially bachelors who stays together, whom doesn't mind paying this much since sharing among themselves will resolve the problem. He also indicated that i need to pay this much since i'm looking for luxury. After getting a glimpse about the trend from this fellow, i got clear that velachery has been luxurious by geographically, hence i decided to relocate myself from velachery to keep things not more complex in searching for a house.

Now i'm looking for a house in surroundings of velachery like ,Adambakkam, Madipakkam, Pallikaranai location. Lets see...
